The Ten Steps of Design~Step 1

I am using The Snowflake Method to plan and organise this novel. This is by a man called Randy Ingermason and can be read about here:

If I hate it, I’ll abandon ship and find another way. When I wrote Abandoned, I didn’t adhere to any method. (Except the Serena Grey Barmy Method.)

So Step One is about writing a sentence (ONE SENTENCE!) of fewer than 15 words, describing the ‘big picture’ of the novel. Ok.

This is his example: “A rogue physicist travels back in time to kill the apostle Paul.” (This is the summary for his first novel, Transgression.)

So basic? How can I summarise everything in ONE SENTENCE?!!

A young art student spends the summer with her friends in an abandoned school and comes face to face with her terrifying future.

The Summer holiday filming in an abandoned hospital turns a group of friends’ worlds upside down.

In a desolate abandoned school a group of art students start shooting a horror film, but when coming face to face with their future the filming turns into a terrifying nightmare.

When shooting a horror film in a desolate abandoned school building a group of art students come face to face with their terrifying future, turning the filming into a waking nightmare.

When shooting a horror film in a desolate abandoned building a group of art students discover  that the location it is not what it seems, turning the filming into a waking nightmare.

After a series of unexplained events in a desolate abandoned building, a group of art students are forced to stop shooting their spoof horror film and record the waking nightmare that is unfolding around them.

(But it’s NOT about the whole group being involved in the ghostly parts. Casey goes away on her own because I want to explore some issues she has about other people and try and show the other side to each person /their angle so at the end she realises she is judgemental and tries to make amends. )

Feeling left out and ignored by her film -making friends, a teenage girl loses herself in the corridors of an abandoned building, awakening a series of haunting events that leads to crumbling friendships, broken hearts and  life changing revelations.

That will do for now!!!!
